CCTV catches fly-tippers dumping sofas and baths in Fenton alleyway (video)
CCTV has been installed in a street to stop fly-tippers dumping waste.
The camera has been put up on the corner of Oldfield Street and King Street, in Fenton, after residents called for action.
They have reported 37 separate incidents about fly-tipping in the alleyway behind their homes in the past 12 months.
The dumped waste has included piles of wood, bags of domestic waste, sofas, baths and even a bowl of dog faeces.

Now Stoke-on-Trent City Council has released CCTV images taken on February 19 of men involved in two separate suspected fly-tipping incidents.
They show:
- An Asian man with a bald head, of medium build and wearing light clothing near a number of bags full of household waste at 6.09am;
- A white man with short brown hair, wearing a blue jumper with a red motif and dark trousers near a large cardboard box containing household waste at 4.39pm.
Residents have welcomed the council's crackdown.
Gemma Smith, aged 34, of Oldfield Street, who once found a mattress on top of her shed, said: "Fly-tipping has caused a lot of problems.
"I even had rats in my house at one stage and it cost £200 of my own money to get rid of them.
"They were attracted by the mess that was caused by people who don't even live here. It's disgusting.
"The problem is that the alley gates are left open a lot of the time and people can easily dump all sorts of things down there.
"It is happening constantly. I have even had things thrown onto my property and not just into the alley."
Neighbour Denise Wibberley, aged 46, of Oldfield Street, said: "Fly-tipping is happening all the time.
"As soon as the police come down and the rubbish gets cleared it appears again.
"The alleyway can be full of all sorts of things, from rubbish and even furniture."
Fly-tippers can be hit with an £80 fixed-penalty fine for littering, which is reduced to £50 if paid within seven days. Anyone who fails to pay the fine will be taken to court and face being fined up to £2,500.
Councillor Andy Platt cabinet member for green enterprises and green city, said: "Fly-tipping is illegal, destroys a community's appearance and diminishes the sense of pride.
"Our CCTV cameras are out in communities and we will take firm action against anyone caught taking part in anti-social behaviour."
Anyone with information about fly-tippers should call 01782 236778.

“Anyone who knows Goldenhill and Sandford will know they have just become on big tip. Driving past the Cushion Pub is like takin a fly tipping sight seeing tour. All sort of ruddish openly dumped and every few days collected, in part, by the cost saving council! a few camaras do the trick to help catch them. Pride in the area ---- absolutely not with people openly throwing Mc'D's and KFC packages out of car windows whilst driving down the street.
This area has lost its sense of pride and lets face it, no one can be bothered to tackle it”

"What are the council going to do, they say they are going to cut the team that deals with this in there wisdom- . I say keep the team and cut the pay of anyone earning upwards of £80,000 at the civic center by 5% at least." unquote.
