PANTO FUN: Busy mums Laura Lyth and Sarah Jablonski wrote, choreographed and produced their own community pantomime – The Wizard That Woz.

Laura, aged 20, from Newcastle, decided she wanted to give something back to her community after attending a parents' forum at the Sure Start centre in Knutton.

Laura, mum to 10-month-old Bradley, persuaded best friend Sarah, aged 22, who has a six-month-old daughter Megan and five-year-old son Callum, to produce the panto.

A cast of youngsters aged three to 15 have been rehearsing since the end of September, ready for a series of performances this week.

The first show was at Cross Heath Methodist Church last night with other shows at the former Silverdale Youth And Community Centre, High Street, Silverdale, tonight and at Knutton Community Centre tomorrow.

All performances begin at 6pm. For tickets, priced £1, call 01782 296120. Proceeds will go towards the cost of the pantomime.

Laura said: "I'm proud of what we've achieved."

Sarah added: "We've had a few ideas for what we can put on in the future."
