TOTALLY inadequate. What am I talking about? Why, First Bus of course.

Let us deal with class division. Gold service to Keele University. Does this mean they are above the rest of us?

  1. NO GOOD: Letter writer Mr Mountford is not impressed with the standard of First Buses. Right, our story from August on the company's investment in its fleet.

Modern double-deckers. Good service. What moron in his ivory tower worked that one out? What are the rest of us left with? Cast-offs from other areas.

In one week I counted three buses broken down. I sympathise with the drivers who have to drive this obsolete junk.

If some were cars I doubt if they would pass an MOT.

Next, bus shelters. Very few, they say, will get vandalised. Don't give me that one. They could be vandal-proof, but that would be too much to ask.

Next, safety. There is none. People stand at the front even when there are seats. I was on a bus the other day when it had to stop suddenly and one person nearly went through the front window.

If we had double-deckers, that would not happen. Plus, prams blocking gangways, or should I say, buggies.

What's a buggy? I could go on. Perhaps someone from First might reply.

“I can say that most of the drivers are very good and do their job to the best of their ability, however, I have to say that on September 25th, the 19.00 bus I catch to make sure I get to work, went SEVEN minutes early from Meir Park, so made my way down to Meir Broadway, trying to catch it there. Not only did a passenger try and inform the driver I was running to catch the bus, he pulled off! When I emailed First customer service, it took TWO weeks for a reply! This is not the first time First bus service has done this and when I have complained had no response whatsoever.

We have been fortunate enough to get the X50 on Meir Park which has taken a number of passengers for Hanley off First.

I would also like to say that the 17.02 on Monday 8th October did not turn up, people from 16.50 needing to catch the bus home however did not get on the bus until 17.36 as TWO buses went by 'Sorry Not In Service'.

First claim to be transforming transport, but in my opinion, transforming it into the a nightmare for the customer.
