$775 million--Federal Habeas Corpus Appeals
$1 billion--Costs of Incarceration

The authors calculated that, if the Governor commuted the sentences of those remaining on death row to life without parole, it would result in an immediate savings of $170 million per year, with a savings of $5 billion over the next 20 years.

I know, you will probably say we shouldn't give them the right to appeal, Hell, you would probably say we shouldn't even give them a TRIAL,
But as the US is one of the few modern western countries to still carry out the barbaric act of state killings, I thought I would just show you how much it actually costs to kill someone legally,
