MARKET DRAYTON: Two teenage girls were hurt after the car they were travelling in collided with a wall.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Newcastle Road Wharf, Market Drayton, yesterday, at 8.25am.

An ambulance crew and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene.

Chris Kowalik, for the ambulance service, said: "A 17-year-old girl who was a passenger in the car had neck and back pain and facial injuries.

"She was flown to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.

"The driver, another 17-year-old girl, was in shock and had minor injuries with pain to her hip and ankle.

"She was taken by ambulance to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford, Shropshire."

STONE: Brownies who took part in a sponsored silence raised £270 for the Haiti earthquake appeal.

Eighteen brownies and five leaders from the 2nd Stone St Michael's Brownies stayed quiet for 20 minutes to raise the money, which has been spent on a survival box containing items such as a tent, sleeping bags and tools.

HANLEY: North Staffordshire magistrates have fixed a trial for Carlton Thaw.

Thaw, aged 49, of Hope Street, Hanley, is accused of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent on January 23 at Hanley.

The trial will take place on April 13. Thaw was bailed.
