CREWE Alexandra reached the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final tonight after surviving a late Coventry fightback.

The Alex, who led their northern area final 3-0, seemed to be cruising as the second leg remained goalless heading into injury-time.

But a Mark Ellis own goal, followed by Leon Clarke's effort made the aggregate score 3-2, but Crewe held on.

They will meet Southend in the final at Wembley on April 7 after the League Two side beat Leyton Orient by the same aggregate score.
