STOKE City striker Mama Sidibe is out of action until the new year after tests revealed he hyper-extended his knee at the weekend.

Today’s diagnosis comes as a big relief to the club after fears he could have damaged his cruciate knee ligament when falling awkwardly in the early stages of Saturday’s goalless draw with Fulham.

Sidibe underwent a second scan after the first had proved inconclusive on his damaged knee.

“It could be worse, but we'll miss him over the next few games. This season he's been an important player for us, so the sooner he's back the better!”
