YOUNG cancer sufferer Ruby Owen has died this afternoon after a three year battle with the disease.

The five-year-old from Kidsgrove was first diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2009.
She endured a serious of operations and treatments, including several trips to the USA for pioneering medical treatment.

Throughout her ordeal, well-wishers have raised thousands of pounds to help her cause.
In September this year, scans revealed the cancer had returned again and earlier this evening her family announced that she had passed away.
A message from the official Ruby Owen Twitter account said: "Just to let you all know Ruby has slipped away from us this afternoon. She is with the angels now. Heartbroken :( thank u for the support."
