Boxing: Greg Lunt closes in on ABA national title
BOXING: Powerhouse Greg Lunt is now one fight from becoming the first Potteries-based Royal Navy Schools ABA national title holder since the 1980s.
The 13-year-old, from Baddeley Green, made light work of Adam Shakil (West Leeds) in the semi-finals of the 46 to 48kg event when they went head-to-head in Wakefield.
Now he takes on Gerard Ward (Berinsfield) in Liverpool full of confidence he can emulate his coach David Buxton, who won the belt at the same age in 1986.
The Stoke/Staffs ABC star will head up to Merseyside on the weekend of March 2 hoping for a repeat of his recent form.

Stoke coach Elizibeth Buxton said: "Greg boxed absolutely fantastically in the semi. The guy tried to go toe-to-toe with him, but Greg beat him hands down.
"Adam was a regional champion, but he couldn't compete with Greg's strength.
"It's a massive honour for the club and the city that we have got this far and now Greg is desperate to win the title that David won way back in 1986."
Ward is the reigning Home Counties champion and won his semi-final in Portsmouth against Harry Needham (Ted Harris Boxing Academy).
