THE chief executive running Stafford Hospital is to retire.

Lyn Hill-Tout will leave Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust at the end of May.

Mother-of-two Ms Hill-Tout joined the trust in June, 2011.

She has had to cope with the fallout from the Stafford Hospital scandal, serious financial problems and the overnight closure of the hospital’s accident unit.

She said: “Throughout my career I have worked with dedicated and talented people who have worked to provide the very best healthcare for their patients and communities and this is particularly true of my colleagues at Mid Staffordshire”.

Mid Staffordshire trust chairman Professor John Caldwell said: “Lyn has led a major reorganisation over the past two years at the trust which has led to substantial improvements to the safety and care of our patients.

“Lyn is highly respected within the NHS and more widely in the community for her great service in, what we all recognise to be, one of the most challenging roles in British public life.”
