GOOD READ: Jane Champion, Patrick Lucas and Nicole Mellor learn more about the Earth.
It gives six to 12-year-olds the chance to learn about topics such as glaciers, weather and deserts.
Like all the books in the series, Planet Earth offers easy-to-read text, interesting facts and illustrations of Mickey Mouse and his friends.
Pupils in Year 6 at St Augustine's RC Primary School in Meir said it was useful in the classroom and for helping with homework.
Caitlyn Barker, aged 10, from Meir, said: "The books are really educational for children who like reading as well as looking at the pictures in them. Now I want to find out more about earthquakes and volcanoes."
Classmate Patrick Lucas, also aged 10, from Dresden, said: "I thought the book was more fun and manageable than other books we have got at school and it could be for children of all ages."
Kieran Woodward, aged 11, from Meir Park, said: "The books will be good for revising for science exams and we can use them in school for science lessons."
Matthew Hughes, aged 11, from Lightwood, said: "I didn't know half of the amazing facts that were in there."
Class teacher Victoria Brickley said the children had fun delving into the book.
She said: "The boys in particular have really enjoyed reading the book but all the children were keen to read it.
"The material inside it was really helpful and fitted in nicely with what we have already covered at school.
"I know a few of the children got the first book in the series and I expect many of them will continue getting the others."
The first book, about dinosaurs, was free with The Sentinel last Tuesday.
Readers can get a different book in the series each week for just £2.99 when they buy The Sentinel.
Planet Earth is available when the coupon printed in today's Sentinel is taken to a participating outlet before Monday.
Other topics to come include insects and spiders, space and famous places.
