A man told him he was going the same way and asked the victim if he wanted to share a lift.
But not long into the journey, the driver and the accomplice assaulted him, stealing his wallet, watch, mobile and keys. The victim was thrown out of the cab and spent several hours trying to find out where he was before flagging down a passing motorist around 5.45am.
Nobody has yet been arrested.
The taxi driver was described as an Asian male, aged 20 to 30.
His passenger was white and aged 18 to 20 with short, dark hair.
