AWFUL ART: It is with growing concern that I write about the amount of tattoos young people are now sporting.

It is beyond me why they have such monstrosities plastered all over there bodies.

Is it because they are not happy with how they look? Is it to help with their self-esteem?

I don't know. What I do know is some of these designs are absolutely awful.

Take the barbed wire around the neck, the tear under the eye and most of all the symbols or foreign writing on the arm.

Does the wearer of this type of tattoo know what it means?

Tattoos on a man are bad enough, but tattoos on women, what are they thinking?

Does a girl look any more attractive by having a flower engraved on her shoulder blade, a bracelet painted around her wrist or some kind of tribal tattoo sprawled across the base of their spine?

All that I can say to these people and people who are contemplating getting one is just think about how you are going to look when you reach middle to old age.

“M Davies, here YOU are again. Giving YOUR opinion as if it is the only one that matters. You really are a sad waste of space that has nothing in your life better to do than pass judgement on other people. Get a grip and get a life for the love of god! You're supposed to enjoy YOUR life but instead you choose to moan about how everyone else is enjoying theirs!

On the topic of tattoos...you say how are these people going to look in middle to old age. How many grandmas do you see with their backs on show?!?!? lol NOT MANY. Besides, i'm safe in the knowledge that there's going to be the MAJORITY of old ladies in the nursing home that will have tattoos by the time i'm that age...ever thought about that M Davies?

............Well....you'll be long gone by then so no need for you to worry yourself!”

“I don't have any tats myself, I dont really have a problem with other people having them, BUT, having said that, how can the typical and predictable, AND boring, "tribal" tattoo on the base of the back that MOST young women seem to have these days be, A a sign of their "individuality" when almost EVERYONE has one?,
and B, be for their OWN enjoyment when they are about the only person who CANT see it???
when I was a lad a tattoo was supposed to be a mark of your individuality, how can this be now when EVERYONE seems to have em?
I DO, however have a problem with piercings especially ones on the face around the lips they turn my stomach I find them about as attractive as a wart or huge weeping cold sore, sometimes one has to look twice to be sure its not a huge puss filled pimple, they are just UGH!!,,”

“Obviously a slow day for meaningful letters. People obviously do not look beyond their own noses. Is the best you can do Sentinel? You do realise that some of your readers are actually hoping to have meaningful debate in your letters and not this drivel that you push out day in and day out.”

“And what the hell will he wright about tommorow, I belive M.Davies may have to much time on his hands or he is barcking mad or getting payed by the Sentinel to wind us all up. I don't have a problem with tattoo's as sutch, though I don't like to see them on the face, but thats just me. I do concere with Ian though, rather fat ladies in there mid 40's and above sould realy cover them up, the last thing you need to see is a drawing of a Panther on a old boiler.”
