YET more political spin by one of our Stoke-on-Trent City Council members who is a wannabe MP (The Sentinel, March 12).

Councillor Brian Ward stated: "If I was elected, I would be knocking on doors in Government".

What an outrageous, vote-begging soundbite.

The article continues: "I think voters are disillusioned with MPs in Stoke."

Personally, I'm more disillusioned with our city councillors than our MP's.

MPs do not run our city, our councillors run our city.

That makes our councillors accountable for any city disillusionment, long before our MPs are even considered.

The article stated: "We are at least 20 years behind other cities."

However, the candidate has been a councillor for almost seven years.

During these seven years our council has never been so fragmented.

Regarding the article and its relation to jobs investment in the city, it's highly probable our reportedly-disjointed council is what really deters investment.

It's reasonable to believe we are behind other cities because of the way our city is run by our jumbled council.

MPs can invite investors into our city, but it remains a fact that investors will view existing standards and our recent history as determined by our councillors.

I don't believe any unstable, fragmented and infighting council inspires confidence for any reputable investor.
