THE Government is set to sign off a £1.69 million grant to Bentley Motors in Crewe to help create new jobs.

The Sentinel announced in April that the company had been successful in securing cash from the Regional Growth Fund (RGF).

The money will be invested in training and skills development among the 3,500 staff at its Pyms Lane headquarters.

The money will also enable Bentley to take on significant additional staff to support increased production to meet demand.

Bentley sold 7,003 cars during 2011, up 37 per cent compared with the year before.

Now the money is set to be handed over after the deal was finalised. The news emerged as Business Secretary Vince Cable visited other RGF projects in the North West yesterday.
