PICTURE THIS: A variety of paintings by award-winning artists from across the county have gone on display at a Leek gallery.

The Society of Staffordshire Artists is staging its autumn exhibition at the town's Nicholson Institute's Gallery until Sunday, October 10.

It was officially opened by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council leader Sybil Ralphs. Opening times are 10am-4pm, Monday to Saturday.

The society was founded in 1933 and holds three exhibitions a year.

A spokesman said: "The aim of the society is to foster artistic talent, skills and creativity in the visual arts within the county of Staffordshire."
