STEVE Lewis beat former world champions Steve Hooker and Brad Walker to take victory in the Perth Track Classic.

The double Olympian pole vaulter, from Light Oaks, cleared 5.60m to take the title as he continues his warm weather training in Australia.

Walker (United States) took silver with 5.50m while 2008 Olympics champion Hooker (Australia) was third with 5.35m.

Lewis now returns home before heading to a training base in Phoenix, United States, to prepare for the outdoor season which includes the Moscow World Championships in August.
