Athletics: Keeling misses out on medal
STEPHEN Keeling missed out on a medal on his Great Britain debut after finishing fourth in the 100m finals at the Paralympic World Cup.
The 20-year-old City of Stoke athlete clocked 13.14 secs in Manchester – just 0.09 secs adrift of a bronze medal.
The Tunstall youngster also finished fifth in the 200m in a time of 26.92.
His dad, Brian, said: "Stephen performed very well, especially considering it was his first outing representing Great Britain.
"It was a very strong field, including the world number one.
"But Stephen showed he isn't too far off the best."
Keeling is ranked the number two sprinter in the UK, and will now set his sights on making the World Paralympics Championship squad in New Zealand in 2011.
"He has been shortlisted for the team and has every chance of going," added Brian.
"He has set a milestone representing England and we are so proud of him."
