The Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) Football Academy in partnership with

Newcastle-under-Lyme College (NULC) is hosting an Open Day for aspiring young

footballers.

The

Open Day will be held during half-term at the MMU Cheshire Crewe Campus on

Thursday 16 February from 11am – 3pm.

The MMU Football Academy is aimed at young

people who want to pursue a career in sports or coaching and want to spend five

days a week studying and training full-time at MMU Cheshire's Crewe campus. The

Academy is open to 16-18 year old males, who will study a BTEC First Diploma or

BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport (Performance and Excellence).

Nigel Deeley, Head Coach of the MMU

Football Academy said: "I'd urge any young men who are serious about a career in

sport to come along to the open day and find out more about what we can offer."

He continued: "Both MMU and NULC are

dedicated to providing the best quality teaching and training for aspiring

youngsters. Our coaches and lecturers have a wealth of expertise and knowledge

that they're looking forward to sharing with our new recruits."

During the Open Day visitors will get the

opportunity to chat with members of staff and the Football Academy coaches and view

the sporting facilities on offer at the Crewe Campus. Visitors are also asked

to wear football kit to enable them to take part in a practical football

coaching  session on the 3G Astro turf facility.
