TEARAWAY twins Ryan and Grant Seymour have been given anti-social behaviour orders after terrorising their neighbourhood since the age of 10.

Police drew up a list of 90 incidents involving the twins since 2005 to secure the Asbos.

Complaints included under-age drinking, intimidating and abusive behaviour, throwing stones at homes and cars, and causing trouble in public places across their home town of Biddulph.

Now the 14-year-olds have been banned from the buildings and grounds of Biddulph Valley Leisure Centre and James Bateman Junior High School, and are not allowed inside the launderette or off-licence in Kingsfield Road.

They must not use offensive language or gestures in a public place, throw stones at cars or buildings, or enter any garden or building without permission.

They are also banned from having or supplying anyone with alcohol, and from associating with several young people they are known to cause trouble with.

Deputy District Judge Nalla Lawrence said: "The ordinary, well-behaved people living near these boys need to be protected.

"The only way these boys are going to be dealt with now is by the State taking action."

He warned Ryan and Grant: "If either of you ever so slightly break the orders I will have no mercy. I will throw you in the slammer."

The order secured by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council runs until the boys, from Villa Close, turn 18.

North Staffordshire Magistrates' Court heard from 12 police officers and PCSOs called to incidents involving the pair.

Other witnesses included a 14-year-old who said he was assaulted by the twins and another youth in February, and a woman who had to move house because Grant and Ryan repeatedly targeted her children.

The boys had already been banned from the leisure centre for their disruptive behaviour.

Inspector Steve Maskrey, below, commander of Leek and Biddulph neighbourhood policing unit, said: "This outcome shows this behaviour will not be tolerated."

District council anti-social behaviour officer Ian McLackland said: "We are grateful to those members of the public who had been affected by the behaviour of the youths and who had given up their time to attend the court hearing."

“I know the twins well and they are decent lads. I'm sure everybody blaming their mum etc don't know what their own kids are up to when they go out. I think people need to think about what they say before they say it. I can't imagine how hard it must be for a mother to read that they deserve to be hanged. I've known the lads for a long time and I know people who do a lot worse but most of you can't see past what you read in the papers. It isn't the mother because i know here and she is a lovely caring WORKING parent who has given these lads a lot of opportunities in life. I don't blame her at all. I blame the fact that the best thing to do in Biddulph for a teenager is to hang out and get into trouble. I'm at uni now in manchester and I've never been in trouble with the police. But I understand how hard it is for children and teens to find things to do because I was there. I find it ridiculous that grown adults are saying stupid ignorant things and even worse are struggling to spell there messages. Just think for once instead of shouting the odds. I'm guessing a lot of people commenting are from the generation above me. Things have changed and you have to accept that. Maybe if everybodies response changed from 'little scum bags' to 'wow we need to help these kids so they can lead a better life' we wouldn't have to issue out ASBOs in the first place!”

“the mother of these boys is not on benefits and works three twelve hour nights and sometimes more to pay for her children and her house that is also not rent free either but mortgaged, not everything in life is as black and white as it seems, could all you people who as a teenager has never spit, swore, drunk alcohol, threw stones or got into a fight please raise your hands, no i thought not!!!”

“ASBOs are not aimed at punishement for an individual, they are used ot protect a communit from further acts of antisocial behaviour. The punishment for breaching an Order (upto 5 years imprisonment) can be stiffer than any penalty the courts may apply if the offender was charged with a criminal offence. This is why they soon realise ASBOs aren't badges of honour. Without ASBOs communities would continue to suffer the effects of antisocial behaviour caused by a small minority, as I'm sure the residents in this story will agree now they finally have some respite.”

“I've been to school with the two lads all my life, and deep down their nice lads, its just when they get on the streets with their mates when it all goes wrong. Also all you people blaming their parent, well you dont have a clue really considering they have a younger brother who has never been in any kind of bother. so before you start accusing, get the facts :)”

“andy, stoke- maybe if we keep on kicking this family when they are down we could lower their self esteem to the point that perhaps they will all go and hang themselves? do everyone a favour!”

“Couldn't agree more E.B. Instead of handing out useless ASBOs why not give them Community Service so that they have to carry out remedial work in the very community that they have abused? Will they look big in front of all their friends then? Of course not.
Lets face it, to scumbags like these two an ASBO is a badge of honour, it's official confirmation that you are a gangster! In their social circles (or should that be anti-social circles) if you haven't got an ASBO then you are a nobody.
Being made to carry out community service in front of all your mates would be an embarrasment that these "gangsters" would hate because deep down they are basically cowards.”

“Michael,We have families like these who blight every area of our city,What is the betting that everyone of them is on the benefit system.Instead of just giving these low lives money, and other benefits,Why do we not make them work for their money,Most of these people have never done a days work in their lives,Perhaps if they had to do a few days work for their benefits they would not have so much time to cause trouble for the other residents.
You never know, one or two might actually enjoy going out to work instead of lying in their pits till lunchtime.”
