MORE residents have been given window alarms by police after falling victim to lead flashing thieves.

Criminals are stealing lead flashing from under the windows of family homes because the metal currently has a scrap value of £1,500-a-tonne.

Window alarms and security marker pens have already been handed out to residents in Fenton after a number of similar crimes.

Now the security measures are also being used in Bentilee, Berryhill and Moss Green.

A police spokesman said: "We have increased patrols around the higher-risk areas and posted information packs to those properties. The packs include a window shock alarm which is attached to the bay window."
