Age will affect ability to carry on working
AGE TAKES TOLL: The proposed increase to pension retirement age gave me some thought regarding those who will have to work for longer. I wonder what will happen to those whose job involves a high amount of physical effort. Each week I see the recycling employees, running from house to house. Is there any thought for them, when age takes away their physical capabilities? Are they just put on the list of unable to maintain their type of employment? Is there any protection for their future?

“Neil, Fenton
Actually I'll think that you will find that this proposal about the compulsory raising of the retirement age is an idea from this current Government to save money.
The European laws said that people should be able to work past retirement age, if they wanted to. That isn't the same thing.”

“I don't really think that the idea of raising the age of retirement has anything to do with the current government, or the previous one at that, its to do with stupid equality laws (coming from Europe) which aren't properly thought out before being put on the statute books.”

“Totally agree with this post. The idea is to have us all working longer, cut down on paying out retirement pension, no bus passes, work till you drop basically. I am 56, do a manual job and feeling exhausted now. Can't wait to retire in another.......9 years! I don't suppose for one minute Mr. & Mrs Cameron will ever have this feeling of being tired all the time, they ought to swap jobs with us for a month and they might change their opinions and also learn how to survive on a basic wage.”
