“Soon to be The Republic of Hanley. Under administration. Just like Lloyds Bank and the rest of them. Taxpayer will foot the bill. How perverse is that.”

“Remember... what I said about the fast dwindling High St Stores -in relation to a 'buzzing thriving City Centre' that Pervez is obsessed with -thinking it's the answer to all his and our problems...
The world is fast going 'Online' to shop. Cheaper, and more convenient -I'M AFRAID. The 'High St' as we know it is in rapid revolutionary decline -
If Pervez defeats the "23rd-ers" and gets his 'un-mandated', undemocratic way, there'll be a shiny new £50 million 'City Centre Civic Block'... surrounded by Accountancy and Solicitors Offices, a Benefits Office, Tax Office, and charity shops (will they ever go online?)... Oh, and the Pigpen (-which should be relocated next door to the Benefits' Office).
When are the improperly optimistic Pervez and van De Larschott going to have a photo-shoot opportunity -posing by a large Road Sign in Stoke Rd Shelton -and both pointing up to the the words, (with arrows), saying "NORTH AND CITY CENTRE and CIVIC OFFICES".
And what a cold, desolate 'faceless' place it's going to be when visitors arrive there. I know lots of people in the Potteries who hate going to Hanley as it is -and a shiny new bus station and shiny new civic office block is not going to alter that.
Stoke people like to stay in Stoke; Tunstall people like to stay in Tunstall; Fenton people like to stay in Fenton; Burslem people like to stay in Burslem; Neckenders prefer staying in Longton.
Whenever theY ''need'' to go to Hanley -(the city centre) -they do so with a heavy heart. Depressing. Get in, do what it was that took you there, Get out -AND GET BACK TO THE TOWN YOU LOVE TO BE IN -and feel at home in. That's Potteries People. City Centres are anonymous and faceless placeS -period.”
