Would you Adam and Eve it? You can get oatcakes dahn sarf!
STOKE City fans visiting London for the last match of the season will be able to enjoy a taste of home before the game.
A pub close to Arsenal's Emirates Stadium has ordered 300 oatcakes to satisfy demand from the thousands of Stokies expected at Sunday's fixture.
They have been made by North Staffs Oatcakes in Chesterton and they are being couriered to the Dartmouth Arms in Tufnell Park today.
Judith Boote, who runs North Staffs Oatcakes with husband Phil and brother-in-law Jeremy, said: "We had a letter asking us to send some oatcakes to a pub in London to arrive tomorrow.
"I rang him to confirm they would be there, and it turns out he runs a pub near the Arsenal ground.
"They are leaving here by courier today and I think he's going to freeze them to make sure they are fresh. I think it's a great idea."
Potters fans have snapped up their 3,000-ticket allocation and are preparing for an end-of-season party at the Emirates after their club secured Premier League survival with games to spare.
Now Nick May, who runs the Dartmouth Arms, wants to help them celebrate in true North Staffordshire style.
The 40-year-old, who is an exiled Stoke supporter, is hoping for a bumper turn-out after news of his tailor-made menu reached Stoke City fan forums.
He said: "I'm from Shropshire originally and Stoke were the nearest decent team when I was growing up.
"I've been down here for 20 years, 10 years at the Dartmouth Arms.
"I used to have a lift with a friend to the games, but he stopped going the season before we got promoted so I don't go as often now.
"When Stoke are on Sky, which is a lot more often now they are in the Premier League, we make oatcakes ourselves for fans living down here who come in to watch the game.
"That's okay when you're talking about 20 or 30 people in the pub, but when you're talking hundreds it's a different matter."
He added: "I'll be here to help serve everyone, but when they leave I'll be following them out and going to the game."
Anyone fearing the traditional delicacy will be filled with ingredients aimed at cosmopolitan customers from the capital can breathe again – Nick will be offering bacon and cheese, and just cheese "for the veggies."
The Dartmouth Arms is at 35 York Rise, London, NW5 1SP. The nearest Underground station is Tufnell park and it is a 20-minute walk from the Emirates Stadium.

“I've lived in the smoke for a few years and I always get my oatcakes fresh from http://www.nealsyarddairy.co.uk/ in Covent Garden or Borough Market.”
