A 16-YEAR-OLD boy last night remained in hospital after crashing his scooter into a tree.

Police say the boy's condition remains critical after he suffered multiple injuries in the accident.

The teenager, who has not been named but lives in Abbey Hulton, was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire after losing control of his bike.

The crash happened at the junction of Leek Road and Cromer Road, just outside Abbey Hulton, at around 9pm on September 3.

Police closed the road for three hours while specialist officers examined the scene to try to establish how the boy crashed his blue and yellow 50cc Baotian Rebel Scooter.

Officers are continuing to investigate what happened and are still appealing for witnesses to the incident, or anyone with information, to contact them.

They should call PC Andy Hogan or Sergeant Ian Tanner at Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 798 of September 3.
