The Sentinel

I read in The Sentinel about Soo Ashley being forced to close her sandwich shop down after 20 years, causing four employees to be made redundant.

This is as well as other small businesses in Broad Street, Hanley, receiving compulsory purchase orders to accommodate the Central Business District.

On the next page I read the council moaning about £50 million cuts in Government grants. Surely the obvious solution would to be to leave the council offices where they are in Stoke, avoiding the need to spend up to £55 million.

I would again ask residents to sign the e-petition to try to stop this madness.

“i have no confidence in the council whatsoever..they couldnt run a corner shop..how on earth they think the 55m move to hanley will be beneficial to stoke on trent bewilders me..WE HAVE NO MONEY..loads of people on low wage ..and they waste money on a white elephant...the current council are already responsible for the outskirts of Hanley looking like Beirut...replace the bus station yes, extend the potteries shopping centre yes, city sentral AND council relocation.. a great big NO..AND leave the coachmakers arms alone...WE NEED BUSINESS MEN NOT POLITICIANS TO SPEND OUR COUNCIL TAX WISELY”

“I feel, like so many others, that this is ridiculous and we should tell them so. So I have set up a Face book page for us all to say whether we want this move or not. The link is http://tinyurl.com/b9et5gf after about a month I will put the feed back to our local MPs and see if they can do anything”
