A53 reopens at Baldwins Gate after two-vehicle crash (Update)

THE A53 at Baldwins Gate has reopened after a crash this morning.

A blue Volkswagen Touareg and a blue Peugeot 206 were involved in a collision at around 7.30am.

The road was closed between the Swan With Two Necks pub and its junction with Hollybush Lane for more than four hours.

The driver of the Peugeot, a man, suffered serious head injuries and was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire where he is in a critical condition.

Witnesses are asked to contact Sgt Ian Revans at Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 94 of January 30.
