“My condolences to Mr Bowen's family and friends. He is obviously a popular individual judging by the tributes left here and elsewhere.
I have no knowledge of the circumstances surrounding this accident but I have noted in the current heatwave people are riding scooters/motorcycles without proper protective equipment.
PLEASE - wear a properly fastened helmet. Wear a decent pair of gloves. Wear suitable protective trousers, jacket and boots. It doesn't matter how skilled a rider you are - you never know what crazy antics other road users will get up to and cause you to have an accident. It just isn't worth the risk.
Sometimes this won't be enough but it CAN make the difference between walking away from an incident and several months or even years of hospital treatment, permanent disablement or perhaps even worse...”
