HIGH school pupils from across Staffordshire are to compete in an annual Media Challenge Final.

Year nine pupils will be visiting Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Services headquarters near Stone on Wednesday where they will be battling it out in the Annual Media Challenge final, which has been organised by the Staffordshire Partnership.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, Staffordshire Police, St John Ambulance, MOD Stafford, and the MoD Police will be working together on the day to stage a 'mock' incident for the finalists.

After watching the incident, the youngsters will then be tasked with producing a media report which includes a newspaper article, a radio broadcast and a video clip.

All the work will be evaluated and the winning team will be named at the end of the day. There will also be prizes for the best journalist, the best radio presenter and the best video footage.

Schools in the final include King Edward VI High School, Stafford, Painsley Catholic College, Cheadle, Sir Thomas Boughey High School, Newcastle, Stafford Sports College and Trentham High School.
