350 houses given backing
DEVELOPERS behind a scheme to build hundreds of houses are expected to get the nod next week.
Hackberry Developments has applied to Stafford Borough Council for permission to build up to 350 properties on the Yarnfield Park site, in Yarnfield, near Stone.
The plans have received mixed views from residents, and local councillor David Price has raised a number of concerns such as the size of the development.
But planning officers have recommended the plans are approved at a meeting on Wednesday.
A report reads: "There is a significant and increasing demand for social housing within the catchment of the site, yet very few new houses have been provided in recent years. The development of the site would make a significant contribution to meeting this need."
The council's development control committee will go on a site visit before returning to the Civic Centre, Stafford, to make a decision on the plans.
