D ETERMINED Claire Woodfint is celebrating after shedding a whopping 11 stone – despite still being able to tuck into crisps.

The 32-year old GP practice manager used to tip the scales at more than 23 stone, but has shifted just under half her bodyweight in two years.

However, when asked to reveal the secret to her success, Claire says it was simply a matter of counting the calories over a long stretch of time.

And despite her new healthy diet of salad and cereal, Claire admits she still managed to snack on her favourite Velvet crunch crisps.

Claire said: "Now, on a normal day I just have a fat-free yoghurt with a sprinkle of bran flakes to liven it up.

"I snack on fresh fruit for the morning, before having a large salad with cooked meats for lunch.

"My favourite dinner after that is fresh salmon fillet with Cajun spice, and a massive pile of chopped up roast vegetables with some plain rice.

"Using a 'sins system' we're allowed 15 'food sins' a day. I don't really have much of a sweet tooth so I tend to have some Velvet crunch crisps.

"But I still have to stay on my diet, so I always make sure they are baked, not fried."

Despite her former large frame, Claire says she never got too upset about her appearance, due to what she describes as her 'bubbly personality.'

She said: "I don't think I ever consciously put on weight – I was always big, even as a child. I've always been overweight so I guess it just gradually climbed up.

"I wasn't really noticing it. When you read stories about overweight people who couldn't walk or take part in certain activities, I thought that really didn't apply to me.

"I've always been a confident woman, and my job as a practice manager at a GP surgery requires me to be social all the time, so I've never really had a problem."

After trying all sorts of diets, it was Slimming World Dresden that fianlly made a difference.

"When I first started the diet I actually thought that it would be like one of these regimes where you have a jacket potato for lunch every day, and I'd be really bored," she said.

"Yet I couldn't have been more wrong – I was always eating large amounts of things I liked – within moderation – along with plenty of fruit and vegetables."

Now a svelte 11 stone 12 pounds, Claire wants to become a Slimming World consultant.

"I feel brilliant – it's honestly amazing," she said.

And it's a transformation that has not gone unnoticed among Claire's pals.

Donna Malpass, a 29-year-old receptionist from Blurton who also attends the slimming world group, said: "She's got loads of praise while her weight dropped so drastically and she deserves it all, I'm so proud of her. Now she's thinner, she's reaping the benefits of her new figure and all of us at the group are absolutely thrilled."
