18-year-old Blurton motorist Billy Ray Davidson took police on 80mph chase
A TEENAGER reached speeds of up to 80mph during an early-morning police chase.
Billy Ray Davidson was at the wheel of his mother's Peugeot 206 which he had taken without permission when he sped away from police.

Officers first tried to stop the vehicle in the Lightwood Road area of Longton at 2.45am on September 29.
But they called off their pursuit as 18-year-old Davidson raced along King Street, in Longton, at 80mph.

Davidson later crashed the car at a roundabout in Fenton.
The defendant was arrested by police and accepted driving the car without his mother's consent.
Now Davidson, of Ripon Road, Blurton, has been handed a 12-month driving ban at North Staffordshire Magistrates' Court after admitting aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving.
He also admitted driving without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
As well as the driving ban, Davidson was sentenced to two months in a young offenders' institution suspended for 12 months. He will also be supervised by probation officers, including attending 'victim awareness' and 'thinking skills' programmes. He must also take an extended driving test at the end of his ban.
The court heard Davidson – who had never appeared in court before – had panicked when he saw the police vehicle behind him.
His lawyer called for a community punishment because a custodial sentence would have a negative effect.
He said the incident had happened early in the morning when there were fewer vehicles and pedestrians.
Gary Corbett, defending, said: "My client knows I am going to say this.
"He is naive and perhaps immature in the way he acted.
"He has conceded he acted foolishly from the outset."
