£11m surgery designs go on show
PLANS for an £11 million health centre are to go on show to the public.
The Sentinel reported last week how a temporary doctors' surgery will open in Meir this month while work is carried out on the new health centre.
Next week, plans for the proposed surgery, to be built on the site of the former Kings Arms pub in Weston Road, will be available for residents to view and comment on.
An exhibition will take place at Meir Community Education Centre in Pickford Place on Wednesday, September 30 between 4.30pm and 7pm and Thursday, October 1 between 12.30pm and 4pm.
The centre will bring seven GP practices together and a range of additional health services from physiotherapy, blood tests and district nursing.
Graham Urwin, chief executive of NHS Stoke on Trent, said: "Feedback from local community representatives indicates that they want to see a building that would complement existing buildings and also reflect the site's history.
"We believe the proposed design incorporates the feedback.
"We would encourage the community to come along to the public exhibition to view the design and more importantly comment on the scheme."
