A club spokesman gave no reason for the sudden closure or indicated what would happen to staff.
The spokesman added: "We regret to inform our members that Klick Fitness will close on October 3.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this closure may cause. It is with huge regret that we have to close the club and we would like to express our gratitude to all of our loyal members that we have worked out with over the years.
"We would urge anyone who has pre-paid memberships or would like to find out how to undertake any outstanding sessions with our personal trainers to contact us."
The gym, which has nine other branches around the country, offered 40 personal training sessions a week, boot camps, Zumba classes and spinning.
Gym-user Tessa Plimley used Klick Fitness up to five times a week. The 28-year-old, of Northwood, said: "I was a member at Fitness First so when it closed down and re-opened as Klick Fitness, I decided to sign back up again.
"I was initially attracted to it because of the cheap prices, but once I started going more and more I really liked it. It's very clean and the equipment is good. The staff are really friendly too, which makes it a great place to go. Everyone I've spoken to is gutted because it is such a good gym."
Fifty-year-old Diane Pestridge, of Trentham, became a member at Klick Fitness at the beginning of the year.
She said: "It is really good value for money, the equipment is simple and the staff are really friendly and helpful. One of the main reasons I chose that gym was because of the variety of classes they had on offer."
Fellow member, 21-year-old Ryan Cole, of Meir Hay, added: "I was originally a Fitness First member then the changeover happened making it a Klick.
"It was less than half the price so I wasn't expecting much from it to be honest, but it was far better than before.
"The atmosphere in there is great. The staff are more than willing to go out of their way to help and it's a real shame to see it close.
"I'm gutted about it. I learned so much and changed my whole perspective towards training. I will struggle to find another gym with that kind of atmosphere."
Gym members who have outstanding sessions or pre-paid memberships should contact Klick Fitness on 08445 713 400.

“Bless... for the two of you who claim the staff and PTs are arrogant and no good at their job, perhaps try doing their spin classes, cross fit classes, or any class for that matter, which without doubt (myself and other member can vouch for this ) get everyone sweaty and get results. These classes, I should also add, attract both male and female members to work hard, those who want to work hard enough to attend the classes that is.
I've been to several gyms over the past 10 years and can hand on heart say this gym, thanks to the PTs and staffs positive attitude and classes, is the first gym where I have felt motivated and pushed harder and trained my body in different ways, getting fitter and in better shape.
Hopefully Pure will see for themselves how good the staff are and keep the best on, if for no other reason than to keep people like you two members away so the rest of us can enjoy and appreciate the gym.”

“I joined Klick Fitness about six months ago and thank god its closing down, simply because of the arrogant so called Personel Trainers, ive never seen so many ignorant, stuck up PT in one gym lol, what a waste of space they are unless you are a female, because alls they seem to do is chat the ladies up as soon as they come through the door. If Klick Fitness does open up again in the near future can you make sure you dont employ any of these muppets,”

“Wot a load of rubbish .This is by far the worst gym in stoke on trent , the personal trainers are shockingly rubbish , All they do is eye ball all the male customers , give everybody dirty looks , seriously bad attitude , back stab all the male customers , even me ,but its the female customers who get all the attention , cos the male staff are always trying to chat em up,
All the lads who train at the gym are gutted that the bad attitude personal trainers ( who walk around like they're gods gift ) , will be working for pure gym .
Oh and another thing , when women have a training session with these male personal trainers , ( its only the women who uses em ) they never really break into a sweat cos they are too busy standing around and gossiping about people who are training at the gym .
Big bunch of lazy jokers”

"The gym was still part of the Fitness First Chain but refitted as part of their low cost offering. It was sold as part of the Fitness First CVA agreement with the companies creditors.
It has been bought by Pure Gym who will be opening on the site in November. Details are available on their website. I have been told by gym staff that they will be transfering to the Pure Gym when it opens. No user is being left out of pocket."
I truly hope you are right but I have my doubts about nobody losing any money”

“Yet another case of people paying up front for services they may receive think on it how many people pay a month in advance for a restaurant meal Please in future only pay for Goods/services you have actually received not for what you may receive then this situation can never arise again I really feel for all the genuine people who have lost money”
